About Me

I was never a fit person when I was younger. As a child I was a "tomboy" and active; but I was described as "chubby". Perhaps I just had not grown into my 5'9" frame. I did not play sports in school and was more or less a "partier" in college. I was not fit. I was overweight.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I changed. I had kids and began to eat healthier. My youngest was a toddler and I still had that "baby fat". I got depressed. I saw a picture of myself in a tank top. My upper arm looked really big - and it wasn't muscle. Life Time Fitness was opening a gym in Novi. I decided to join. They had free child care! No more excuses for not exercising.

To make a longer story short - I got very into working out, what it did for me, I began to help others, decided I was good at it, and became a trainer. Then I became a group fitness instructor...an outdoor cyclist...learned how to swim....tried a sprint-triathlon...and most recently became a Certified Health Coach.

Just for Fun Right now I am taking a break from teaching group fitness classes to focus on building my personal training business. For 12 years I taught indoor cycle ("spinning" - my favorite), rowing, strength training, CORE, aqua aerobics, circuit, and senior classes. I am an outdoor cyclist and participate in various rides every season. My favorites are the Wayne State Baroudeur, Slow Roll in Detroit, Palmer Park Bike Ride, the RAT (Ride Around Torch) and the Leelanau Harvest Tour. I completed the El Tour de Tucson 109-mile bike race in 2004 and raised over $5,000 for my favorite charity, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am often biking about Detroit and my new hometown of Ferndale.
